Q |
What is the Kemmunet Global Internet
Roaming Service? |
|
A |
It is a very convenient service that gives
Roaming subscribers "the control and ability to SECURELY access
their company email/ files 24x7 while away from Malta, just as
easily as if they were there." This is an optimal solution for
business travelers who need timely access to their email & corporate
data while abroad - as it is " time based" rather than flat rate
tariffs based on amounts of data accessed. Data based charging is
costly.
When you subscribe to this service, you are able to connect to the
Internet through other iPass ISP partners. It is no longer necessary
to have multiple ISP accounts just for the sake of being able to surf
Internet / access email , and you avoid running a high bill. |
|
Q |
What do you need to use the service? |
|
A |
Besides your laptop Pc or PDA , you need a
Kemmunet Roaming account and the iPass connection software. The
connection software is FREE and has a simple "point-and-click"
interface allowing connection to a local access point from around the
world in seconds. The ISP of your choice provides this to you at no
additional cost. You maintain one account with Kemmunet, continue to
use the web browser and e-mail program of your choice wherever you
are, and always use the same user ID and password which we provide.
To connect wirelessly you require a
wireless network card , either as a USB peripheral attached to your computer,
or as a wireless PCI card fitted internally. |
|
Q |
What are the benefits?
more |
|
A |

using the Global Roaming Service:
- Roaming charges are significantly
less than long distance charges or data based charges.
- Log into a connection all over the
world while maintaining one account.
- Secure access to all Internet
services and your company email and data network too.
- Use existing (and familiar) web
browser/e-mail.
- Faster more reliable connection than
provided by mobile carriers.
- Local convenient access from over
90,000 access points.
- Secure wireless connectivity
worldwide.

|
Q |
How Does it Work? |
|
A |
iPass forms relationships with ISPs around
the world that have the highest quality Internet access networks and
that provide seamless access in far reaching locations. iPass provides
software to Kemmunet that enables these access networks to be
available to you. This software facilitates secure routing of
user authentication requests over the Internet between Kemmunet and
other providers.
When you travel outside of our regular service area, you can connect
to any of the worldwide iPass access points using your iPass
connection software. Your authentication request will be encrypted and
sent over the Internet to your home provider's authentication server.
The server will check your information and send an authorization
response (or denial if appropriate) back to the ISP you are connecting
into so that you can gain access to the Internet. This process takes
about five to ten seconds. iPass tracks the time you are connected to
enable your ISP to accurately bill you for the services used.
For connecting hotspots your iPass connect
software can tell you in advance of hotspot availability in the area
you are visiting. |
